Get the Most Out of Your Outdoor Apparel

At GameGuard, we don’t have anything against specialization, but we also believe that your outdoor apparel can go a long way. Why not have your fishing shirt and your night-on-the-town shirt in one package? Or, your hunting shirt and work shirt? Point being, we strive to make high-performance apparel that can perform just about anywhere—not a lineup full of one-trick ponies.

That’s what we’re highlighting today. We built our apparel with every detail in mind, so you can make the most of each feature, no matter what you’re up to. In order to get the most out of every dollar (we all need that, nowadays), here’s a quick guide to maximizing your wardrobe for the backcountry, backyard, and beyond.

Style With Substance

Let’s be honest. No matter how much outdoorsmen want to admit it, the overall look of their apparel matters. No one wants to walk into a boardroom looking like a Navy Seal, and no one wants to walk into the woods looking like they're about to present a PowerPoint to the board of directors. That’s why we design apparel that can do both. Really.

Just look at a few of our best-sellers. For example, the Original Shirt can be dressed down for a day on the water, and dressed up for a day in the office. The Camp Shirt is another great example. It’s still got all of the features you could want in a top-tier outdoor shirt, but it has a casual, refined look that can fit just about any place that doesn’t require a tie. The list goes on and one, from the Voyager Shirt and Explorer Shirt, to our Travel Shorts and SeaDrift Pants.

So, next time you’re shopping for outdoor apparel (or indoor apparel), ask yourself if it has more than one use. You may as well have your high-performance apparel and your casual apparel in one package.

Look for Finer Fabrics

Of course, style doesn’t matter at all if you don’t have substance. Our apparel is more than pretty—far more, in fact. Whether you’re talking about some of our more casual styles or technical pieces, they’re all designed to thrive in the outdoors—and it all comes down to the selection of fabrics.

Our Shirts—like the Drover, Pearl Snap, Maverick, MicroTek, Original, and more—use premier synthetic fabrics that wick moisture away from your skin, keeping you sweat- and stink-free even when temperatures soar. Why does this matter to your everyday wear? Well, you can get away with a morning dove hunt or nine holes on the golf course, without driving your coworkers out of the office with an unpleasant aroma.

On top of moisture-wicking, we use wrinkle- and stain-resistant fabrics to keep you clean and extend the lifespan of your apparel investments. Fewer stains and wrinkles means less packing on outdoor trips and less last-minute wardrobe changes when your coffee decides to take a nose dive on the way to work.

The list goes on, from ventilation and sun protection to overall fit and form, but the overall point is that the better your fabrics are, the more mileage you’ll get out of them. Pick apparel that has a laundry list of benefits, and you’ll be able to enjoy them wherever your day takes you.

Layer, Layer, Layer

Outdoor enthusiasts do a lot of things in a lot of places, which we’ve covered to this point. But, they also do a lot of things throughout the entire year. There’s always some sort of season around the corner, and we want you to make the most of it.

A key to being comfortable all year comes down to layering. It’s the secret weapon for folks who spend time in harsh conditions doing all sorts of activities. Obviously, in the summer, your layer is most likely going to be reduced to one. Makes sense. But, as temperatures drop, it’s much more helpful to throw layers on gradually as the temperatures drop, instead of putting on one heavy jacket—or, even worse, a jacket that’s not warm enough.

Many of our shirts work great as an initial layer. With the aforementioned top-tier fabrics, all of our shirts will help keep you dry, which is even more important in cool temperatures. Hiking in for a morning hunt? Throw on the Original Shirt in Digital Camo to stay dry and cool, and pack a vest or jacket to put on top when you get to the stand and cool off. You can do the same thing with the SeaDrift Pant and baselayers, or really any of our performance apparel.

It may sound simple, but you’d be surprised how many people ignore this aspect of their outdoor gear, whether they’re prepping for the backcountry or simply wanting to stay comfortable during a routine weekday.

Ultimately, we’re hunters and anglers and professionals and normal people, just like yourself. We know that there’s always a little unknown packed into every day, and our goal is to design apparel that pulls off the most important magic trick of all—not needing you to think about it at all.
